Public Dock Space Up For Grabs On River In Rising Sun

By Mike Perleberg Ohio River in Rising Sun. File photo. (Rising Sun, Ind.) – Need a convenient spot to dock your boat this summer? There is room available on the Ohio River in Rising Sun. The Rising Sun-Ohio County Port Authority is accepting applications for mooring spaces at the public docks on South Front Street. The fee is $15 per foot for boats up to 26 feet in length. The rate goes up to $20 per foot for boats longer than 26 feet. Applications can be found at www.CityofRisingSun.com. The applications are due at to the City of Rising Sun Clerk-Treasurer’s Office by June 2. Residents who rented dock space in 2016 will be given priority. If after those users space is still available, then new applicants living in Rising Sun or Ohio County will be selected. If there are more applicants than space, a lottery will be held to determine which new applicants gets dock space. Space will be made available to non-residents of Rising Sun and Ohio County is there is still room, again by lottery.
