(Aurora, Ind.) – After he was accused of drunkenly kissing two eight-year-old girls on their heads, a Greendale man allegedly led police on a two-state vehicle chase.

The ordeal took place April 2 when Aurora Police were called to the Aurora VFW on Second Street to investigate a complaint that a patron at the business had kissed children who were present in the bar’s family area, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Dearborn County court.

Before police arrived, Jeremy R. Minges had fled in a silver Saturn car. An officer encountered Minges’ vehicle at George Street and U.S. 50. After the officer activated his cruiser’s emergency lights, Minges allegedly refused to stop his vehicle.

Minges fled on U.S. 50 toward Lawrenceburg. Another officer deployed stop sticks, flattening three of the four tires on Minges’ vehicle. Still, he continued driving through Lawrenceburg and Greendale. At one point, Minges allegedly stopped briefly and made a “middle finger gesture” toward an officer before driving off once again.

Eventually, the pursuit crossed into Ohio. Minges finally stopped in the area of Lawrenceburg Road and Rosealta Lane in Elizabethtown and was taken into custody.

A blood alcohol content test by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office determined Minges’ BAC was .105.

Following the chase, Aurora officers returned to the Aurora VFW to speak with the individuals who made the complaint. The bartender said that Minges had been “cut off” from drinking. She later heard the girls talking about kissing by Minges. The bartender then informed one of the children’s grandparents, who called police.

Officers also spoke with the two eight-year-old girls who did not know Minges. They each stated that he had kissed them on each of their foreheads and the tops of their heads, according to the affidavit.

Minges, 41, was formally charged April 4 with Resisting Law Enforcement (level 6 felony) and two counts of Battery of a Child Under 13 (level 6 felony).
