Police: Dad Got Involved In Teen's Fist Fight

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg man is accused of taking his teenage daughter to fight another girl, then getting in on the action himself.

The afternoon of April 5, Lawrenceburg Police responded to the scene of the alleged fight at the George Street Park. They found the victim, a teenage girl, there crying. She told officers that she and another girl had argued at school earlier in the day, then detailed what happened during the fist fight.

Officers didn’t have to take the victim’s word for it as they eventually obtained one of a number of cell phone videos of the fight taken by witnesses. The video showed Frank Sonny Lane, 39, encouraging his teenage daughter to fight.

At one point during the fight when the victim was on top of Lane’s daughter, Lane allegedly grabbed the girl by the neck, threw her to the ground, and hit her in the face. Officers say Lane then pushed three other juveniles who were watching the fight.

The fisticuffs between the two girls continued until the victim called for help and the fight was broken up.

News tippers told Eagle 99.3 that at least one of the fight videos was posted onYouTube. A provided link to the video showed that it had been removed from the website for violating its terms of service.

Lane is charged with Battery on a Person Less than 14 Years of Age Causing Bodily Injury (Class A misdemeanor) and Disorderly Conduct (Class B misdemeanor). He posted a $1,000 bond to get out of jail on April 5.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled in Dearborn Superior Court I on May 20, followed by a bench trial on June 25.
