Correction: A previous version of this story stated an employee of Dearborn County Planning & Zoning submitted a comment against the rezone proposal. The comment was actually from a resident which was then sent to that same planning and zoning employee. We regret the error. The corrected story appears below.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - It could be a crowded meeting of the Dearborn County Plan Commission on Monday.

Eagle Country 99.3 told you earlier this month that property owner Blind Hunting Club is requesting for a rezone of about 186 acres in Guilford from agricultural to residential. The developer has submitted plans for a 100-home subdivision on the property between Bonnell and York Ridge roads.

The Dearborn County Plan Commission will take up the proposed zone change at a meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Dearborn County Government Center in Lawrenceburg.

Few details about the development have been shared. The plan commission could send the proposal on to Dearborn County Commissioners with a favorable or unfavorable recommendation for the zone change, but they may opt to table a decision in lieu of more information.

Neither the property, nor the nearby unincorporated town of Guilford, have sewer service. However, the Dearborn County Regional Sewer District has stated in a letter to Blind Hunting Club's engineer that it would be willing to cooperate and facilitate in bringing sanitary sewer to the development.

The superintendent of Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools also wrote a letter stating that the school corporation would welcome the opportunity to serve more students, as enrollment in the district has been declining over the past several years.

Local residents have been gathering signatures for a petition against the zone change. Others have taken the avenue of writing letters to Dearborn County Planning and Zoning officials.

"I could not imagine a subdivision of this size doing nothing but completely transforming the quiet, quaint community into something the local residents would not like," county resident Cindy Goodpaster wrote in one letter.
