(Batesville, Ind.) - Lt. Danny Hamilton was recently honored for his life-saving actions on June 26, 2026.
It was on that day that Batesville EMS, Fire and Police received a report of a male who was choking and not breathing.
Lt. Hamilton was the first responding officer on the scene and observed the male was unresponsive laying on his side. Lt. Hamilton sat the male in an upright position and proceeded to perform the Heimlich Maneuver. After several thrusts, Lt. Hamilton had dislodged the food that the male was choking on, and he regained consciousness.
For his actions, Lt. Hamilton has been awarded the Lifesaving Award.
"Without the quick actions of Lt. Hamilton, it is certain that the life of a Batesville citizen would have been lost that day," reads a statement from Batesville Police.
