Phone Scam Reported In Switzerland Co.

By Travis Thayer (Vevay, Ind.) - The Switzerland County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of an active phone scam. According to a press release, the scammers are posing as friends or relatives that have been arrested and are in need of bail money. If you receive such a call, the Sheriff's Office urges you to confirm that the friend or relative is actually incarcerated before taking action. It should also be noted that bail cannot be paid for over the phone. Anyone with questions should contact the Switzerland County Sheriff's Office at (812) 427-3636.
