One Killed In I-71/I-75 Accident Saturday Morning

This accident happened around 1:00 a.m.

(Boone County, Ky.) - A Cincinnati man was killed in a car accident in Boone County over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 8 around 1:00 a.m., Boone County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to northbound I-71/I-75 at the 175.9 mile marker for a report of an accident with injuries.

Through an investigation, it was found that a blue Honda, occupied by Franklin A. Morales Temaj, 26, and operated by Ingrid Mendez, 26 both of Cincinnati, had stopped on the highway due to mechanical issues.

A gold Chrysler operated by Brandon Hess, 37 of Campbellsville, Kentucky, was also traveling northbound. Due to the Honda stopped in the roadway, Hess was unable to stop in time and ultimately struck the blue vehicle in the rear. This caused the Honda to be pushed into a concrete barrier and come to final rest facing southbound.

A tractor-trailer, traveling in the second lane, struck Hess’s vehicle after it traveled into his lane following the initial collision.

Temaj was pronounced dead on the scene.

Hess was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with non-life threatening injuries.
