OCCF Awards Community Grants

Over $31,000 was awarded.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation awarded a total of $31,804.13 in Community Grants to 10 local non-profits during the first grant cycle of 2026. Each organization could request up to $5,000.

The following grants are funded through Ohio County Today & Tomorrow Endowment Fund, created by the City of Rising Sun and Ohio County, to fund the pressing needs in Ohio County and one funded through the Todd Burgess Memorial Endowment Fund. 

 

  • City of Rising Sun has been awarded $5,000 to help with funding for the 2026 Navy Bean Festival which will be held September 18-19.
  • Ohio County Tourism has been awarded $5,000 to help provide entertainment for the 2026 Stars & Stripes Celebration which will be held July 4th.
  • Rising Sun SAY Soccer has been awarded $3,000 to purchase equipment for the youth program.
  • Southeastern Indiana Independent Living Center has been awarded $2,300 to purchase community marketing outreach supplies.
  • Voices of Indiana has been awarded $1,250 to provide scholarships for Ohio County students to participate in the Young Voices program.
  • Ohio County Rescue has been awarded $3,600 to help fund the Cradlepoint System upgrade.
  • Bear Branch VFD has been awarded $4,994.13 for the purchase of needed equipment.
  • Pet Friendly Services of Indiana has been awarded $2,000 to help provide for the Low Cost Spay/Neuter Days at the Rising Sun Veterinary Clinic which will be held in May and September.
  • American Legion Auxiliary (American Legion Post #59) has been awarded $2,500 towards the purchase of Riverfront 250th America Tribute signage.
  • River Valley Resources has been awarded $2,160 to help cover HSE (High School Equivalency) testing fees for Ohio County residents. 

Donations to help grow an endowment fund established within the Ohio County Community Foundation can be made in memory or honor of a loved and are tax-deductible in most cases.
