(Napoleon, Ind.) - The president and chief executive officer of Napoleon State Bank is retiring, an announcement accompanied by the naming of the bank’s next leader.

Mark Comer will retire as Napoleon State Bank’s president and CEO on January 31, 2020. The bank founded in 1903 operates six branches with 84 employees in Napoleon, Holton, Osgood, Greensburg and Westport.

Comer started with Napoleon State Bank as a branch manager at the Holton branch in 1978. He became a member of the board of directors in 1990 and was promoted to chief executive in 2016 following Leslie Kessens' retirement.

“I began my professional career with The Napoleon State Bank in 1978, and I am proud to have been a part of the Company’s growth, including two new branches in 2019,” Comer said in a news release announcing his planned retirement. “I have seen the bank grow from $15 million to $267 million in assets. However, I treasure most the relationships with customers, stockholders, and employees that I have been able to develop over the years.”

Comer said the local bank’s dedicated employees and management team have put it on a solid footing and he is confident that the company is well positioned for its next phase under the leadership and guidance of the new CEO.
