(Greendale, Ind.) – For My Brother’s Keeper, playing their own brand of folk- and gospel-infused bluegrass hasn’t been about hitting it big in Nashville or achieving stardom.

After all, it’s bluegrass (kinda), the genre of music which has produced only a handful of household names with any degree of commercial success over the years.

But the southeastern Indiana-grown quartet has managed to turn their music into a “full-time hobby,” says fiddler Joshua Luckhaupt.

Joshua and his brothers, guitarist Benjamin and mandolinist Titus, formed the band seven years ago with upright bass player Wyatt “Sawmill” Murray. The brothers, who each daylight as teachers, have blossomed into a group with a loyal local following and capable of impressing bluegrass-loving crowds at festivals in states as far as Iowa and Texas.

“We’ve been playing together so long. It’s amazing the way we’ve grown and gotten better at playing with each other – a lot tighter,” Joshua says.

On Friday, May 31, they will release their third album, Born For This, during a free album release party and performance at First Baptist Church of Greendale. All are welcome to the free event starting at 7:00 p.m.

“The title track describes how we feel like we are meeting our calling in life. We were born to play music,” Joshua shares.

The group self-produced their new album – a first for them . “We wanted to see what we could do on our own.”

My Brother’s Keeper’s Born For This album is available on iTunes, Amazon Music, and Spotify starting Friday. Copies will also be available at the album release party.

The group plays the first Friday evening of each month at The Coffee Peddlar in Harrison, a regular gig they began four years ago. They also play multiple shows at other venues, may of them churches, each week – “there’s definitely a religious aspect to our music,” Joshua says.

Look for them at the Lawrenceburg Taste of Summer on Saturday, June 15 at the Lawrenceburg Civic Park.
