(Batesville, Ind.) - A mural honoring front line workers of the COVID-19 pandemic was unveiled in downtown Batesville on Wednesday.
16-year-old, Olive Cerniglia, designed the "In This Together" murals that display healthcare, public safety, manufacturing, logistics and education workers.
The murals are located on the side of The Simons Company, 25 E. George Street, and on the side of the building owned by local teacher and realtor Aaron Garrett at 215 N. Walnut Street.
“I personally know many people on the front lines of the pandemic and having the chance to see my work go up that recognizes them brings me a lot of joy,” said Cerniglia.
This was all made possible by the generous community members and businesses that donated to the fundraiser beginning on May 18.
Rowland Graphics produced and installed the murals and donated the time and material for the project.
“I reached out to Olive and her parents and expressed interest in creating a design honoring these workers and she ran with the vision,” said Rowland Graphics owner Jimmy Rowland. “Olive’s art is just another way to show that we are all in this together and it’s incredible how the community supported this endeavor.”
The murals will be displayed through the summer and fall.
