Milan's Henkel Wins Bowman Memorial Scholarship

(Ohio County, Ind) - The Ohio County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Morgan Henkel of Milan, Indiana, has been awarded a Donald Bowman Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500. The Donald Bowman Memorial Scholarship is available current year, graduating seniors from Rising Sun High School, Lawrenceburg High School, Milan High School and Switzerland County High School who meet the scholarship criteria. Morgan attends Milan High School and was awarded the scholarship on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 during the Milan High School Awards program. This scholarship was established within the Ohio County Community Foundation, by Danika Bowman Brindley and her family, in memory of her father, Donald Bowman. Donald Bowman was a resident of Ohio County and passed away in 2010 at the age of 57 from lung and brain cancer. Mr. Bowman encouraged his daughter to pursue a degree in nursing. Danika and her family hold a 5/K Walk Run in August to raise funds for the scholarships. Seven scholarships will be awarded in 2017 in the amount of $500 each as follows: 2 recipients from Rising Sun High School, 1 recipient from Switzerland County High School, 1 recipient from Milan High School,1 recipient from Lawrenceburg High School, and 2 Continuing Education Scholarships.
