Marshals, Local Police Check In On Dearborn Co. Sex Offenders

A sex offender sweep was conducted on Tuesday, June 12.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Dearborn County police and U.S. Marshals Service teamed up Tuesday to conduct a sex offender sweep.

The officers, deputies and marshals made contact with 44 registered offenders across the county, checking to make sure they were in compliance with sex offender registry laws.

They found that eight of the offenders were out of compliance. Two of them were arrested on drug charges. Another was accused of a probation violation.

Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens thanked the U.S. Marshals for their help with the sweep.

“When I learned that the U.S. Marshals were willing to help us ensure that local sex offenders were in compliance with registry laws, I thought it was a great opportunity for us to verify that sex offenders are following the rules. I Would like to thank the U.S. Marshals for reaching out to us, to the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, the Indiana State Police, the police departments of Aurora, Dillsboro, Greendale, Lawrenceburg and Rising Sun and the Dearborn Superior Probation Department for their enthusiastic help in working towards keeping out community safe,” Deddens said.
