Markland Dam Inspection in Gallatin County Begins Tuesday

This work will require a single lane closure throughout the inspection area.

(Gallatin County, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of an upcoming dam inspection on the Markland Dam in Gallatin County beginning Tuesday, July 29.

Crews will be inspecting the Markland Dam on KY 1039 from north of the U.S. 42 exit off-ramps (6.5 mile point) to north of the Kentucky/Indiana state line (7.1 mile point), a distance of 0.6 miles.

This work will require a single lane closure throughout the inspection area between the working hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. All lanes will reopen daily by 4 p.m.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic signals on both sides of the work zone. These signals will guide traffic safely through the area. Please, drive carefully to keep our crews safe.

Weather permitting, this inspection is expected to take three days, and should be completed on Thursday, July 31 at 4 p.m. If additional days of work are needed – KYTC will provide further updates on social media and the District 6 Roadshow.
