Man Allegedly Smuggled Drugs Into Hospital

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Attempting to smuggle heroin to a patient at Dearborn County Hospital ended with a man’s arrest.

 

Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit detectives received information that two men would be delivering the drugs to a surgical patient Monday.

 

Detectives went to the patient’s room to find Gary G. Lane, of Lawrenceburg, there. Lane was later found to be in possession of heroin.

 

Lane, 49, is charged with Possession of a Narcotic drug (Heroin) and Possession of Paraphernalia.

 

The unit says the investigation into the incident is still open.

 

“This case further demonstrates the significance of the heroin problem in our community.  The actions of these Detectives may have saved the life of this patient,” Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard said in a news release.
