LMU Issues Boil Water Advisory For Ludlow Hill Area

Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities has placed a Boil Water Advisory in effect until 9:00 AM on Thursday, March 19.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities has placed a Boil Water Advisory in effect until 9:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, for the Ludlow Hill Area. This does includes all LMU water customers along Bielby Rd. and on all streets adjacent to Bielby Rd. in the area.

This advisory is due to an electrical and subsequent mechanical failure at the booster station that serves the Ludlow Hill pressure zone and storage tank that resulted in system pressures dropping below 20 PSI in some areas.

During this advisory, water is fine for the customer to bathe, wash clothes, and other common needs.

For eating, drinking or cooking, water should be boiled for five minutes as a precaution.

This boil water advisory will remain in effect until water quality tests confirm the water is safe for customer consumption. This usually takes 24-36 hours.

LMU will take samples this morning with hopes to have results tomorrow afternoon. As further precautionary measures, LMU will take a sample again tomorrow.

If you live in the area and are experiencing brown or dark water, run cold water in the bathtub until the water is clear.

If you did laundry and had brown water that left spots on the laundry, do not dry the clothes. A rust remover product is available at the utility office and/or police dept. Please stop by and the staff will give you some of the product to use when rewashing your laundry.

These precautionary boil water advisories are to ensure the safety of the community, a responsibility LMU takes seriously. This advisory is not the result of a known health concern with the public water supply.

Please call LMU with any questions you may have, (812) 532-3500.
