(Union, Ky.) - Boone County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury collision with extrication on Thursday morning.
The crash took place around 9:59 a.m. at the intersection of Hathaway Road and Sullivan Road in Union.
Investigators say a 2021 GMC Yukon, operated by Ronald Wolfe, 69, of Sparta, was westbound on Riddles Run Road and stopped at a stop sign. He then turned left onto Hathaway Road into the patch of a vehicle driven by Zach Wilzbach, 31, of Walton.
Marlin Hensley, a passenger in Wolfe's vehicle, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Hensley was airlifted from the scene but was pronounced deceased prior to arrival. Wolfe sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries. Wilzbach was uninjured.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. Speed and alcohol/drug impairment are not believed to be factors but will still be investigated.
No charges have been filed, and all parties are cooperating with the investigation.
