The bill now heads to the House for consideration.

INDIANAPOLIS - A bill authored by State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) that would provide more protection for farmers through the Indiana Grain Indemnity Fund passed the Senate and will now move to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
Senate Bill 461 would require grain dealers to be more fiscally responsible, keep accurate records on their purchases, and improve other regulations and procedures.
"I was happy to see my colleagues recognize the importance of adding protections for our state's farmers through Indiana's Grain Indemnity Fund," Leising said. "This bill builds on the work of the General Assembly over several years ensuring grain dealers exercise fiscal responsibility as they manage their operations to protect the agricultural assets entrusted into their care."
