Victims are rarely near shore, making rescues difficult.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn County Water Rescue has a simple message, "please do not go out on the ice, it is not safe."

In previous days, water rescue teams in the area have been called out at least twice. A male had to be rescued from the Ohio River. According to Dearborn County Water Rescue, it was difficult bringing the man back to sure due to responders not being able to get a boat out to him.

Just yesterday, there were kids playing on the ice on the river in Lawrenceburg.

No injuries were reported.

"Ice rescues are not easy. The victims are rarely near the shore," reads a statement from Dearborn County Water Rescue.
