(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A local high school football rivalry may have been taken too far by an act of vandalism.
As the sun came up Wednesday morning, drivers on U.S. 50 began to notice a message across Neary Memorial Field at Lawrenceburg High School. Dirty words and pictures had been spray painted on the grass.
The message also included the words "All In" and the letters "EC" and "SD" – likely references to in-county rivals East Central and South Dearborn high schools.
Although the were references to the rival schools, Potts said they can't be sure the vandalism was committed by a person from either school.
"Lawrenceburg Police will be giving a cash reward for leads that result in the conviction of the vandals," said Officer Brian Potts, who is leading the investigation.
Anybody with information on the vandalism can contact Lawrenceburg Police Officer Brian Potts.
Much of the area where the spray paint was placed had recently received a new layer of sod as the grounds crews prepare the field for the upcoming season. A crew will mow the grass and maybe try to use green paint to cover what remains, Potts said.
