Lauren Hill To Be Posthumously Inducted Into Ohio Basketball HOF

A well-deserved honor.

(Greendale, Ind.) – Lauren Hill has been an inspiration to many and she’ll soon be a Hall of Famer to all.

The Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2019 to be inducted on May 18, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Columbus.

Hill will be posthumously inducted during the ceremony.

The Lawrenceburg High School graduate captured the heart of America in 2014 when she lived out her dream to play college basketball while she battled terminal pediatric brain cancer.

On November 2, 2014, Hill made her collegiate debut for Mount St. Joseph in front of 10,250 spectators at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. Not only did Hill make her debut but she scored four points during the nationally televised game.

Before her passing in April of 2015, Hill had helped raise more than a $1 million for the Lauren Hill Tribute Fund for The Cure Starts Now Foundation. To date, $2.3 million has been raised in Lauren’s honor to help find a cure for cancer.

Due to her contributions, the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Selection Committee has decided to honor Hill among the state’s basketball greats.

Hill will be enshrined in the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame with the likes of former Cleveland Cavaliers star Larry Nance, and 11 former NCAA Division I players.

Lauren's father, Brent provided Eagle Country 99.3 with the following comment:

"For me it is just overwhelming pride in my daughter. To be the father of a 19 year old girl that ended up touching the world is amazing. I still have to have a cry when I think about it, but it always makes me feel better when I am done, just knowing what she accomplished and continues to accomplish.  This is just another group of people that will hear her story and help keep her memory and cause alive. I am so grateful for that. The fact that 4 years after our loss people are still being touched by her story. Her ability to touch people has kept this alive to help others in the future.  That was her gift to the world. Our Personal family charity http://www.laurensfightforcure.com/ continues through our yearly events to help families at children’s hospital through gift cards and other items on occasion. We also are a member of the DIPG Collaborative and of course continue to give to The Cure Starts Now to fund research. That was the charity Lauren was so involved with and raised so much money for research. Also proud of our permanent scholarship in Laurens name at Lawrenceburg High School. Thanks for everyone’s continued support of Lauren and her fight to never have to tell families that they have a terminal Diagnosis. And as Lauren would tell everyone, “ Never Give Up!”
