By Mike Perleberg File photo (Rising Sun, Ind.) - A new RV park at a southeastern Indiana casino will open soon. Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun broke ground earlier this year on a $1.5 million project to create a 56-space RV park on its property along State Road 56. In an update to stockholders Wednesday, casino parent company Full House Resorts said the RV park is slated to open in June. Executives of the Las Vegas-based company are hopeful that the attraction will lure more visitors to the Rising Sun riverboat. “RV parks are common at casinos in other regions and the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association estimates that more than 60% of all recreation vehicles are made in Indiana. Despite this, the RV Park at Rising Star will be the first at a casino in the market,” the 2017 first quarter report to stockholders states. An introduction date for a new Ohio River ferry boat between Rising Sun and Rabbit Hash, Kentucky has not been announced. “We are also proceeding with our growth efforts beyond these projects, including the introduction of a ferry boat for improved access to Rising Star from areas around Cincinnati's principal airport, pavilion and casino improvements at Rising Star,” said Full House Resorts CEO Dan Lee. The quarterly results report also touched on a failed Indiana bill which would have allowed Full House Resorts to move some of its slots and table games licensed for use in Rising Sun to a proposed new casino in Terre Haute. The bill died in a Senate committee on a 5-5 vote in February. “The Company continues to explore ways to utilize its unused, permitted gaming capacity in Terre Haute or elsewhere in Indiana, which we believe would provide significant jobs and tax revenues to the state and a growth opportunity to the Company's shareholders and employees,” Full House states. Full House says it spent about $131,000 on project development and acquisition efforts in the first quarter, primarily on costs related to the Terre Haute casino.
