By Travis Thayer (New Castle, Ind.) – A prestigious honor has been bestowed upon one of Jac-Cen-Del High School’s best basketball players of all-time. Former Eagles standout Kurt Comer was named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2017 Silver Anniversary Team on Tuesday. Comer, a 1992 Indiana All-Star, is among 18 men named to the team based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago. During his high school career, Comer totaled 1,476 points, 636 rebounds and 305 assists. As a senior Comer lead Jac-Cen-Del to sectional championship and Ripley County tournament title (24-2 overall), while averaging 30.7 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 6.0 apg. Comer was also a Coaches 3rd Team All-State Selection and Bloomington Hearld-Times Small School 1st Team All-State. Last month, Comer was one of five former high school basketball stars named to the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2017. The All Men’s Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s Annual Men’s Banquet on Wednesday, March 22. A mid-day reception at the Hall of Fame Museum in New Castle is free and open to the public. An evening banquet will follow at the Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.
