(Osgood, Ind.) - Students and staff at Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood are calling attention to the dangers of texting and driving.

Senior student Emily Huntington died in a crash in Ripley County on December 30. Police said the 18-year-old had been texting while at the wheel.

Huntington’s death hit her classmates, teachers, and coaches hard. But, students are now looking to make something positive out of the tragedy.

Student Spencer Huffmeyer has produced a video PSA featuring students and teachers saying they will never text and drive again. Since Huffmeyer's video was posted Janaury 20 it has received over 5,000 views.

The 30-second video starts with a clip of the 911 call made when the deadly crash happened, showing Huntington’s picture, the wrecked minivan she had been driving, and Jac-Cen-Del High School.

A montage of students, teachers, and Huntington’s girls basketball teammates follow, each successively stating, “I’ve done it. I am not immune. I will never do it again.” The PSA is dedicated to Huntington.

Earlier this month, the high school established the "Live Laugh Learn" Scholarship. A goal of raising $10,000 has been set to ensure the scholarship can last for years to come.

One of the first fundraising efforts will take place on Senior Night, the last Jac-Cen-Del girls home game of the regular season January 31. It’s being called “Pack the Gym for Em Night.”
