Indiana State Police Investigating Fatal Shooting in Switzerland Co.

The incident took place at a home on Searcy Road.

(Switzerland County, Ind.) - Indiana State Police is investigating a fatal shooting in Switzerland County. 

On Sunday, July 21, a homeowner located in the 10000 block of Searcy Ridge Road near Patriot, observed a male, identified as Aaron Snyder, in his residence after allegedly breaking through a door. 

The homeowner fired at least one shot at the suspect, striking Snyder. 

According to ISP, there were two adults and some small children in the house at the time. Following the gunshots, the home's occupants immediately call 911. 

EMS arrived and Snyder was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office responded initially and then requested ISP lead the investigation.  The investigation is ongoing.
