Indiana Secretary of State Visited All 92 Counties Within Six Months

INDIANAPOLIS - Secretary of State Diego Morales has been busy during his first 6-months in office, visiting each of Indiana’s 92 counties in record time.

In each county, Secretary Morales met with county clerks, auto dealers, sheriffs, prosecutors, small businesses, and schools. The goal of these meetings was to listen and learn about how state government impacts local communities and how the Secretary of State can help voters and local election officials, citizens, and businesses and with business registration, investor protection, financial literacy, and auto industry issues.  Community leaders have provided helpful feedback for the Secretary, the Election Division, and the office’s Auto Dealer, Business Services, and Securities Divisions.

Since the start of the year the Secretary of State’s Office has recruited an experienced hard-working executive leadership team, facilitated a successful Primary Election, hosted an international business conference, assisted in the passage of an important absentee voting security Bill, and led a bipartisan delegation of Hoosier government and academic leaders on an international trip to observe a National Election in Guatemala – the first activity of its kind for the office and state.

Secretary Morales was recently appointed as Co-Chair of a National committee overseeing the investment securities industry, Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). Secretary Morales has also taken active leadership roles in the Indiana Business Law Survey Commission, Motor Vehicle Sales Advisory Board, Retirement Home Guarantee Fund Board, and the Election Committee of the state’s Executive Council on Cybersecurity.

“My job as a state elected official is to listen carefully and respond to the needs and goals of our communities and local government. If we work together, we can get the job done that Hoosiers expect. I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far, but I know there’s more work to be done and I have no plans on slowing down,” said Diego Morales, Indiana’s 63^rd Secretary of State.

Secretary Morales continues to crisscross the state meeting with constituents and visiting county fairs, festivals and parades this summer.
