Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel filed the charge against Timothy Bowman on Thursday. This past October, Bowman had initially been charged with Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 felony) and Domestic Battery (Class A misdemeanor) after a domestic disturbance at his home in Holton. At one point, Bowman, 48, came outside and allegedly fired a shot toward officers. An Indiana State Police trooper returned fire, striking Bowman. After being released from an area hospital, Bowman was booked into Ripley County Jail. Bowman had an initial hearing on November 21 in Ripley Superior Cort where bond was set at $500,000 cash. Hertel says the decision to elevate the charge to Attempted Murder came after consultation with Indiana State Police detectives and crime scene investigators who worked the case.
