UPDATE: High Speed Chase Cuts Through Three States

UPDATE: Police are working to determine the suspect's identity.

Update published at 2:28 p.m.:

The wild police chase began near the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport at about 7:40 a.m., according to Indiana State Police. It is not known why police there were attempting to stop the black Cadillac Escalade.

Boone County authorities asked Lawrenceburg Police to assist in the pursuit as the suspect fled toward Indiana on Interstate 275, says Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens. A Lawrenceburg officer followed the SUV at speeds in excess of 100 MPH into Ohio, then westbound on I-74 back into Indiana.

ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles says the Escalade approached the construction zone on I-74 Westbound where traffic is reduced to one lane. The fleeing vehicle struck the back of a semi trailer before spinning into the median and coming to a stop. No officers or other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Deddens says the suspect briefly attempted to flee on-foot, but was quickly taken into custody by officers on the scene of the crash.

The prosecutor says officers from multiple agencies helped to bring the chase to an end, including Greendale Police, Dearborn County Sheriff's Department, Harrison Police, and Sunman Police. Sunman Fire and EMS assisted with the crash.

"The suspect's name and information will be released upon it being ascertained," Deddens says. "The investigation is ongoing with Boone County Sheriff's Department and the Lawrenceburg Police Department."
