(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg woman was recently recognized with a prestigious award.

Kristi Eberhart was among the honorees at the annual Heroes of Character celebration on April 18.

The Hero of Character award is given to individuals who are role models and leaders in communities throughout the tri-state.

Eberhart is the Indiana Program Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters, working with both site-based and community-based mentoring programs.

“She was the guiding force behind bringing the Site-Based program to Dearborn County schools,” giving more children the opportunity to be matched. Along with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Indiana Advisory Board, Kristi helped spearhead the signature Bowl For Kids’ sake in Lawrenceburg, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Indiana Big Brothers programs,” reads an excerpt from the Character Council.

Eberhart ‘walks the walk’ at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Years ago, she was matched with a shy, struggling 7-year-old girl. Through kindness, patience, encouragement and consistent presence, Eberhart helped the young lady blossom into a confident woman, who has graduated from college and was recently married.

Eberhart is planning to retire this year.

Kathy List, BBBS President & CEO says, “We are so proud to see the Character Council recognize Kristi for her work. The ripple effect of legacy she leaves behind will continue to be felt for generations.”
