Harrison Police Hoping To Solve Vehicle Break-Ins

Thieves have targeted unlocked cars in the meadows and Shaker Point Apartments.

(Harrison, Oh.) - Harrison Police are asking citizens to be vigilant after a rash of vehicle break-ins.

Thieves have recently targeted vehicles in the meadows and Shaker Point Apartments, taking items from unlocked vehicles.

Three vehicles have also been stolen. Two of the stolen cars have been recovered, but the third vehicle stolen Sunday night or Monday morning remains missing.

The missing vehicle is a black Volkswagen Jetta with Ohio temp tag G739956. Detectives are asking citizens to be on the lookout for it.

Investigators say there is one simple thing vehicle owners can do to make themselves less of a target.

“All three of the stolen vehicles were left unlocked and keys were left in the vehicle or in another unlocked vehicle close by. In every theft from a vehicle, every vehicle was left unlocked,” the department’s notice said.

The police department offers these theft prevention tips for vehicle owners:

  • Close and lock all windows and doors when you park
  • Park in well-lit areas
  • Never leave your vehicle while it is running
  • Never leave your keys or valuables in your vehicle
