(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The United Way of Southeast Indiana teamed up again this summer with Hamline Methodist Church to prepare and serve hot, nutritious lunches for kids in the Lawrenceburg Community Center summer program.
Hamline’s summer program offers approximately 40 lunch meals every Tuesday-Thursday for youths from kindergarten to high school who attend the Community Center’s summer day camp and drop in at the Center throughout the day.
Volunteers from various area agencies, including the United Way, donate their time to assist in preparing the meals. The kitchen is headed up by Hamline member Nancy Wiley and coordinated by Jude Schulte.
Many of the food items served come from generous donations from companies such as JTM meats.
Hamline Chapel also offers free meals each Wednesday at High Hopes Café at the church on High Street in downtown Lawrenceburg.
