ISP Identify Man Killed in Dearborn County Crash

The crash occurred at Lawrenceville Road and SR 46 on July 3.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Indiana State Police-Versailles Post have identified the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in northern Deaborn County on July 3. 

Investigators say George R. Dever, 87, of Sunman, was traveling northbound on Lawrenceville Road and entered State Road 46 into the path of a vehicle driven by Wyatt C. Kruthaupt, 18, of Batesville. 

The front of Kruthaupt’s vehicle struck the driver’s side of Dever’s vehicle.  Dever sustained fatal injuries in the crash.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office. 

A passenger in Kruthaupt’s vehicle, James Sterwerf, age 66, of Milan, sustained serious injuries. He was airlifted from the scene. 

The investigation remains ongoing. Toxicology results are pending.
