(Ripley County, Ind.) - Genesis: Pathways to Success recently concluded its Script to Screen: Film-making Masterclass, a three-part series that provided aspiring filmmakers with a comprehensive look into the film-making process.

The sold-out class welcomed 10 participants of varying ages and experience levels, all eager to learn about the art of film-making. Led by accomplished filmmakers Brady Domingo, Daniel Fayette, and Jacob Nobbe, the series provided attendees with a unique opportunity to gain insights from industry professionals with real-world experience in directing, production, and storytelling. With backgrounds spanning feature films, commercial work, and independent productions, these instructors brought valuable expertise to each stage of the film-making process.

The Masterclass began with a Pre-Production session at the Batesville Memorial Public Library, where participants explored storyboarding, scriptwriting, and production planning. In addition to learning the foundational steps needed to bring a film to life, they also analyzed a variety of commercials, sparking meaningful discussions on how these components contribute to rhetorical appeals, ethos, pathos, and logos, in visual storytelling.

During the Production session, participants visited the historic Damm Theatre in Osgood, where they observed a short film being filmed. They learned about camera techniques, lighting, and directing, as well as the technical aspects of capturing footage. Participants even had the chance to appear as extras in the film.

The final Post-Production session at the Batesville Memorial Public Library covered editing, sound design, and color correction. Participants gained an understanding of how raw footage is transformed into a finished product, learning about the crucial role post-production plays in shaping a film. Additionally, they had the opportunity to provide feedback on the short film created during the Production session, gaining insight into the revision and refinement process that filmmakers undertake.

“Being part of this Masterclass was such a rewarding experience. Getting to share a behind-the-scenes look at film-making and seeing everyone's excitement was incredible,” stated Masterclass instructor, Daniel Fayette. “This is exactly the kind of opportunity I wish I had when I was starting out, so being able to potentially spark that passion in the next generation of filmmakers was really special.”

Genesis: Pathways to Success extends its gratitude to Ripley Youth Outreach and the Ripley County Community Foundation for sponsoring this series, as well as to the talented instructors who shared their expertise.

The Script to Screen: Film-making Masterclass was the first in a new Masterclass program hosted by Genesis: Pathways to Success, with plans to expand into other topics and industries in the future. By continuing to offer opportunities for learning and exploration, Genesis aims to empower individuals to discover their interests, passions, and potential career paths.
