(Indianapolis, Ind.) - State Rep. Randy Frye (R- Greensburg) was recently selected to chair the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs.

Frye said in the upcoming months, the committee will examine several assigned topics, including military transition practices, the construction of an injured public safety officer monument and development of an electronic system to streamline veteran services.

“Interim study committees give legislators the opportunity to take a deeper look at some of the most pressing issues Hoosiers face,” Frye said. “These meetings are an important part of the lawmaking process, and give us the opportunity to hear from the public and experts in the areas we are studying.”

Frye currently serves as chair of the standing House Committee on Veterans Affairs and Public Safety during the legislative session

In addition, Frye will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation, the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation, the Integrated Public Safety Commission and the Military Base Planning Council.

Frye said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
