(Wilmington, Oh.) - It is going to be a chilly couple of days in the tri-state.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for the following counties in Eagle Country.
- Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland in Indiana
- Carroll, Gallatin, Boone and Kenton in Kentucky
- Hamilton County, Ohio
The freeze warning goes into effect from 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
Sub-freezing temperatures are expected with a lows in the mid to upper-20's. Snow flurries are also possible.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
The National Weather Service provided the following statement:
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
Following the Freeze Warning, a Freeze Watch will remain in effect from Thursday evening to Friday morning as overnight lows are expected to remain at or below freezing.
