(Greendale, Ind.) - A new store will open in Greendale, providing a nearby place for customers to grab a loaf of bread or a cone of ice cream.
Kate and Mike Detmer, owners of the new Greendale General Store, say it will open at the corner of Nowlin and Probasco streets in October. An official opening date has not been announced on the store’s Facebook page.
Kate Detmer told Greendale City Council last week they plan to sell basic grocery items, deli sandwiches, coffee, and ice cream.
“We have to offer a lot of things we’ve heard from folks at a vision planning meeting a couple months back. Everybody wanted bread so we’ll have loaves of bread… We really hope to revitalize that corner of town,” Detmer said.
Detmer added they are working with the Greendale Redevelopment Commission on a small business development program.
Council voted unanimously to approve a merchandising license for the new family-owned and operated business.
