(St. Leon, Ind.) – The East Central FFA Chapter recently traveled to Purdue University to compete in a state competition.
The Indiana 4-H/FFA State Horticulture Career Development Event on September 29.
East Central FFA had 19 members compete at the event that featured 36 teams from throughout the state.
Each team or individual competitor had to use their knowledge to identify ornamentals, indoor plants, fruits and vegetables. They also had to complete a general knowledge exam and a plant grading exercise.
East Central had three teams place in the top 10. Placing 5th was the team of Heath Doll, Maria Hartman, Rachel Kraus, and Grace Krause.
Amelia Hartman, Travis Foote, Erica Kathman, and Anna Loschiavo combined for an 8th place finish, while the team of William Sauer, Bella Woodyard, Adrien King, and Jacob Robbins placed 10th overall.
Joseph Miller was also recognized for competing as an individual.
