(St. Leon, Ind.) – Four East Central FFA members are state champions.
The Indiana FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event took place on Saturday, April 27 at Indian Creek High School.
The team of John Hipsky, Jasmin Keith, Evan Kramer and Wyatt Smith placed first to win the state championship.
Participants competed in a number of events consisting of general knowledge exam, identification of ornamental plants, pests, diseases, and disorders, plant potting and propagation practicum, landscape estimating practicum, verbal customer assistance and a team activity which involved laying out a paver patio and placing landscape plants according to a design.
John Hipsky was the top individual for East Central, placing 2nd overall.
The state winning team will compete in the National FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event in Indianapolis in October.
