(Versailles, Ind.) - Thousands of Hoosiers are still without power due to powerful storms Wednesday night.

As of Friday morning, Duke Energy reported 22,000 customers statewide that are still without power, including over 1,000 customers in the Versailles area.

The company expects to restore the majority of Hoosier customers by 11:59 p.m. Friday; however many will be restored sooner.

"We know this is an extremely challenging time, and extended power outages can cause added stress,” said Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar. “We worked through the night to restore service to critical facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. We have an army of resources responding to restore power as quickly as possible, and we thank our customers for their patience while we restore their power.”
