Democrats Ask Court Of Appeals To Install Osili

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Indiana Democrats want Vop Osili to become secretary of state now that Charlie White has been removed from office.

The Indiana Democratic Party is asking for the Indiana Court of Appeals to enforce a ruling from Marion County Circuit Court Judge Louis Rosenberg that said Osili, who lost to White in 2010, should take his place.

Rosenberg stayed his ruling because of White’s appeal against the judge’s order.

White was convicted over the weekend on six felony counts, including voter fraud.

Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Jerry Bonnet as the interim replacement following White’s conviction.

Democrats argue that because White is no longer in office, the stay should no longer be in effect and Osili should take the office immediately.
