Dearborn-Ohio Circuit Court Magistrate Kimberly Schmaltz
(Undated) – A southeast Indiana magistrate is being recognized by the Indiana Supreme Court for her educational pursuits.
Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Brent E. Dickson honored dozens of judicial officers – including judges, magistrates, commissioners and referees – for their commitment to higher education and their long-time service. The honors were presented at the 2013 judicial conference.
Dearborn-Ohio County Circuit Court Magistrate Kimberly A. Schmaltz is among 36 judicial officers statewide who have received an Indiana Judicial College Certificate. Schmaltz, a 1979 South Dearborn High School graduate, had to complete 120 hours of education from the Indiana Judicial Center to earn the certificate.
Dickson also recognized ten judicial officers who served 24 years or more on the bench.
According to a news release, the Indiana Judicial Center serves as the state’s judicial research and continuing judicial education agency. It develops and sponsors education programming for judges, probation officers and other court personnel. The Center works to enhance the performance of the judicial system as a whole by continuously improving the professional competence of judicial officers.
