(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Rock the Block is a big deal in Bright, and that’s why Dearborn Community Foundation Board member Luree Ketcham selected it for a $1,000 Proactive Grant.
In its 28th year of helping donors make a difference, each DCF Board member is recommending a proactive grant of $1,000 throughout 2026 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.
“For years, the Bright Community Festival and Bright Parade were beloved community events. … The Bright Fire & EMS, with community help, brought back the festival in the form of a music festival,” said Ketcham.
The parade was held yearly despite the demise of the festival, she clarified.
“The whole community looked forward to getting together with friends and neighbors for the much-anticipated event.”
Ketcham and many others volunteered for clean-up duty.
The two-day July event, hosted by Bright Fire & EMS, celebrated the Bright Community, and the fire & EMS’ mission. Money raised went to funding essential equipment, tools and supplies to help the fire & EMS organization serve and protect the community.
