The Costume Swap runs October 1-29.
(Aurora, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Recycling Center is excited to announce the return of its popular Costume Swap.
Now in its 16th year, the Costume Swap runs from October 1 through October 29. Community members are invited to shop sustainably and creatively by swapping gently used Halloween costumes.
Costume Swap Hours:
October 1-29 | Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays | 1:00–6:00 p.m.
Please note: The Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, October 13, in observance of Columbus Day.
This annual event encourages reuse and reduces waste by giving costumes a second life. Last year, over 1,100 participants took part in the program, saving money and keeping single-use items out of landfills.
Over 1,000 costumes for children and adults, plus a wide selection of masks, wigs, makeup, accessories, treat bags, décor — and even a few pet costumes! All items are clean, in good condition, and many are brand new. Sizes range from infant to adult.
Participants are encouraged to bring a clean, complete costume in ready-to-wear condition. Costumes should be free of rips, tears, and stains, and include all original accessories (e.g., masks, props). Don’t have a costume to swap? No problem! A minimum monetary donation is requested to support the program and help restock after Halloween.
Shopping times and guest capacity may be limited to ensure a smooth experience.
Costume Swap is open to everyone, not just Dearborn County residents. This is a reuse program, not a charity—please be prepared to donate if your costume is not accepted.
