(Erlanger, Ky.) - Some exciting things are happening at Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.

This week, CVG announced their new Rental Car Center & Ground Transport West has officially opened to the public.

The $171 million, 1.2 million square-foot rental car facility will house all 11 rental car brands serving CVG, eliminating the need to be shuttled back and forth to rental car lots, and easing the hassle of CVG travelers.

Effective Wednesday, October 20:

  • If flying: Rental cars will now be accessible by walking from baggage claim - no shuttles needed. Follow Terminal signage to Ground Transport West to the Rental Car Center inside the Terminal.
  • If local and not flying:  Travel to CVG Airport, follow signs for Arrivals/baggage claim to the front curb of the CVG Terminal.  Enter the Terminal, follow signage for Ground Transport West to get to the Rental Car Center.

CVG also announced this week the reopening of Runway 9/27.

The airport’s longest and most utilized runway closed in March for rehabilitation work that consisted of new asphalt, concrete and lighting updates.

To minimize impacts on operations and surrounding communities, CVG worked with the Federal Aviation Administration and cargo partners to compress the project schedule impacting the runway to a six to seven-month closure timeframe versus the typical two years it would take for a project this size.

“We are grateful that the phase of the project involving runway closure is complete as this infrastructure benefits the airport and all of our airline partners,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “This project will position CVG well for pandemic recovery and future growth.”
