Local officials are hoping to reach the $6,000 goal by November 12.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Dillsboro residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy community events with an upgraded sound system, thanks to a recently launched crowdfunding campaign. The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and offered through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity. The campaign is led by the Town of Dillsboro.

“Hosting several community events each year, Heritage Pointe is truly at the heart of where residents and visitors meet in Dillsboro,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. “We are pleased to support their goal to add a sound system to increase the production quality of these events."

If the campaign reaches its $6,000 goal by November 12th, 2018,  the “Sounds at Heritage Pointe” project will receive a matching grant of $6,000 from IHCDA's CreatINg Places program.

The funding raised during this campaign will allow the town to invest in an indoor/outdoor sound system at Heritage Pointe and the Dillsboro Arts/Friendship Gallery. Over the last few years, this community gathering space has hosted an increasing number of events, including: the Dillsboro Homecoming Festival, the Farmers Market, Dillsboro in Bloom, Our Hometown Christmas, the annual Veterans Day Program and Heritage Festival. This new sound system will eliminate the tripping hazards caused by the portable system currently used at events, and will improve the overall quality of any speeches given or music played during events.

“Adding sound to the silence at Heritage Pointe and Friendship Gallery will give another dimension to our events and activities in downtown Dillsboro”, said Woody Fryman, Councilman and member of Beautification of Dillsboro. “The Pointe and gallery are creating a new vitality in Town.  The collaboration between the town, Beautification, Dillsboro Community Partnership and our other non-profits is a driving force to renew the old business district.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began last fall, projects have raised in excess of $1,620,000 in public funds and an additional $1,375,000 in matching IHCDA funds.

The CreatINg Places program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and Local Units of Government are eligible to apply.

Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should they successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
