The project is scheduled to start on or after May 7.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to begin chip seal operations on State Road 1 in Dearborn and Franklin counties on or after Thursday, May 7.
Crews will be active on S.R. 1 between State Road 46 and U.S. 52 near Saint Leon. S.R. 1 will be temporarily closed while work is in progress. Access will be maintained for local traffic only. Work is expected to take up to three days, weather permitting.
During operations, existing pavement is coated with liquid asphalt, which seals cracks and provides waterproof protection. This extends the service life of the roadway and lowers maintenance costs. Once the roadway is coated with liquid asphalt, aggregate is applied and excess material is swept from the roadway.
After a curing period, crews will return to fog seal the new driving surface and apply pavement markings under flagging operations.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
