(Friendship, Ind.) - No injuries were reported after the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a home in the 5000 South block of State Road 129 on Saturday night.
A report of a chimney possibly malfunctioning came in around 9:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, the home was heated by a wood furnace in the basement and there was significant smoke coming from the flu pipe attached to the chimney.
After several attempts to clear the chimney, a large amount of straw from a bird nest was removed. The fire in the furnace was extinguished, the house was ventilated, and the burnt material was removed.
Crew members were on the scene for nearly two hours.
