Braun Outraises Donnelly In 3Q, But Donnelly Has More To Spend

The Indiana U.S. Senate race is so close that the top two candidates are raising millions for their campaigns.

(Undated) - Millions of dollars are pouring into Indiana’s hotly contested U.S. Senate race.

There is a lot riding on how Hoosiers vote in the election on November 6. Whether incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly or Republican challenger Mike Braun wins could help tip the scale of power in the Senate.

Both candidates shared their third quarter fundraising totals Monday. Braun’s campaign says he raised $5.6 million in the third quarter. Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly’s campaign is touting $3 million raised, a new personal record for the first term senator.

"Mexico Joe Donnelly chose partisan games over Hoosiers when he opposed Justice Kavanaugh, and enthusiasm continues to build for hiring job creator Mike Braun and firing Mexico Joe," said Braun spokesman Josh Kelley. “After raising over $5 million this quarter, Mike Braun for Indiana has the resources to remind Hoosiers that Mexico Joe supports Obamacare and Obama’s Iran nuclear deal while Mike Braun stands with President Trump's agenda of creating economic opportunity for Hoosier families."

It is Donnelly, however, with the bigger warchest heading into the home stretch of the campaign. Donnelly reports $4.5 million cash on-hand to Braun’s $1.9 million.

“Hard-working Hoosiers and grassroots supporters continue to power Joe’s campaign, and once again, he’s set yet another personal record. We’re especially proud that our campaign is driven by tens of thousands of individuals chipping in whatever they can, five and ten dollars at a time, instead of by Washington special interests,” said Peter Hanscom, Campaign Manager, Donnelly for Indiana. “Joe's message of hard work and Hoosier common sense continues to resonate, and we’re glad we have the resources we need to make sure every single Hoosier knows what Joe’s campaign is about over the next 22 days.”

Libertarian Senate candidate Lucy Brenton has not shared her third quarter fundraising totals.

Federal candidates had a Monday deadline to report their third quarter fundraising to the Federal Election Commission. The reports have not yet been published online.
