(Batesville, Ind.) – The artwork of a Batesville Middle School student is on display in downtown Batesville.

You can see the artwork of seventh grader Billy Cox on the side of the Simons Company building on Main Street. It is the third Art on Main installation of the school year.

Art teacher Lynne DiMuzio says the mural was created in art class using colored pencils and Sharpie markers.

“Billy drew a variety of areas in which you can learn, such as archery, science, chess, farming, and computers, piecing them together like a puzzle,” DiMuzio explained. “This is all focused around the BMS name and the Bulldog mascot.”

About the Art on Main program

BCEF’s Art on Main program features artwork from students from the four Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) buildings on a rotating basis. BCEF would like to thank Jimmy Rowland from Rowland Graphics, who donates his company’s time to install every mural, and Nick Maple, owner of the building, who provides the use of his location for the display. In addition, a special thank you goes to BMS art teacher Lynne DiMuzio for her coordination and assistance and to principal Dave Strouse for his support. The BMS mural will be on display for a few months when the last entry for the 2023-24 school year will be installed, featuring artwork from Batesville High School (BHS). That mural will remain in place all summer. For more information about Art on Main or any of BCEF’s programs, contact BCEF executive director Anne Wilson at awilson@batesville.k12.in.us.
