Callers are posing as deputies with the Sheriff's Department

(Brookville, Ind.) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Department has received several calls from citizens claiming to have been contacted by individuals posing as deputies with the Sheriff's Department.
The scammers are using the names of current deputies and telling callers that they have an outstanding ticket or fines they must pay.
No law enforcement agency or officer will ever call citizens requesting payment.
You are reminded to never give out personal information for a call that has not been initiated by you.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up and call the Franklin County Sheriff's Department to verify at 765-647-4138.
